whew – this video has been in the works for a while now, and I’m so stoked that it’s ready to be shared with all of you…my 2017 SKETCHBOOK TOUR!! I always enjoy watching sketchbook tours on youtube and listening to artist commentary. not only is it inspiring, but there’s something kind of relaxing about them.

as I mention in the video, I want to note that my sketchbooks are different from my art journals. my art journals are mixed media stuff that is more like completed works of art. my sketchbooks on the other hand, is where I’m working out all of the kinks: testing new supplies or colors, drawing, mindless illustrations, notes, etc.

I tend to work on a few at a time (and this year I’ve been bouncing between three of them), so that explains why it takes me so long to fully complete one. this particular sketchbook was started in December of 2016, and completed this August.

so grab a cup of tea, pull up a chair, and hop on over here to watch the full video tour (and it’s a nice a long one for ya!). I hope you guys dig it…

I find that my illustration inspiration board grows more and more each day. along side my current reading material, I find that I’ve become increasingly inspired by small & simple illustrations.

it got me thinking – that I really need to draw more. even just simple & mindless doodles. I need something to keep my skills up & my creative mind moving. with everything going on lately – it has been difficult to finish my studio space in the new house, let alone carve out a big enough block of time to work on something.

so I’ve decided I’m going to attempt to do one small drawing or doodle everyday. lord knows I’ve got plenty of empty journals and sketchbooks just itching to be filled…

we shall see how this goes.
