november monthly playlist from artist Roxanne Coble (aka BY BUN)

it’s so insane to think that this year is coming to a close…how did 2017 fly by so damn fast?! in preparing to put up this blog post, I realized I’ve been sharing my spotify playlists for almost two years. crazy.

so here’s this month’s playlist…just in the knick of time! if you’ve caught any of my Instagram live streams lately, then you’ve definitely heard some of it. this month, I was back on a Blood Orange kick (which always makes for great productive tunes) and discovered Kendall Miles – whose song ’24/7′ kicks off the playlist. overall, I think this month’s playlist is pretty solid.

enjoy! xo

October Spotify playlist from artist Roxanne Coble (aka BY BUN)

if you’ve tuned into any of my Inktober live streams on Instagram this month, then you’ve 100% heard some of this playlist…

while it seems like a bit of mixed bag this month, I will say this playlist is perfect for creative work. tracks from Fleet Foxes, Mac Demarco, Nick Drake, and a few others really keep this playlist pretty mellow. while the new-ish song from Grizzly Bear and an older one from Chaos Chaos puts a little pep in your painting step.

I’ll admit I’ve had this one on loop quite a bit while working in my studio, and hope you dig it too! xo.

okay, I have to admit…this might be my favorite playlist of 2017 thus far. I know I’ve still got halloween next month, so that might top it – but damn this is a good one guys…

you have to listen to this one in order. things kick off with a Miami Horror and a song I’ve been using to get myself pumped up for workshops and filming. it’s then followed up with “Feel It Still”, a track by Portugal, The Man that will continue that feel-good dance party vibe. the playlist then slows down with a little jazz, some female vocals, and even a Lady Gaga song I got hooked on after watching that Netflix documentary.

it’s a short list this time around, but oh so sweet…xo

Creative Spotify Playlists curated by artist Roxanne Coble (aka By Bun!)

this might actually be one of the longer monthly playlists I’ve put together! it’s an easy task to accomplish when you end up spending so much time in your studio…

there’s definitely some random stuff this time around, but somehow it all works together. everything from holy ghost!, the velvet underground, neko case, and even youtuber dodie (it’s the last track on the playlist, just trust me and give it a listen). I’ve listened to this playlist several times through now, and would definitely recommend listening to it in order.

enjoy! 🙂

well, I’m cutting it close posting this playlist on the last day of the month eh? but that’s not stopping me…come at me June! COME. AT. ME.

there’s pretty much just two words I have for this playlist, and that is: Washed. Out. yes, my all-time favorite band ever Washed Out has finally put out a new album (and you’ll find two tracks from it on this month’s line up).

if you’re new to Washed Out, allow me to be your welcome wagon. this band is the best. their music is chill. it’s upbeat. it’s great background music and it’s great party music. it’s soulful for art making, but cool enough to jam to while you’re cooking up a sweet vegan dish for you and your honey. you catch my drift…I love f*cking this band…

I think this month’s playlist is a good one. for real. I’ve been spending some legit quality time in my studio and whenever that happens, I’m able to stockpile tunes.

this playlist is definitely more upbeat this time around. with tracks from the cults, ctznshp, and paramore, you’ll have that productive dance buzz happening in no time. as usual, the tracks do slow down on the back end, so listen in order…enjoy!

wooooaaahhh nilly, where the heck did april go?! believe it or not, I’ve actually had this playlist ready to go for a while. but, I have been so consumed getting spirits done that I never got around to sharing it with all of you!

so I have to say that this month’s playlist is pretty rad. it’s got a good mix of upbeat stuff at that start (m83, a new track from paramore, and a song I’m obsessed with from the moth and the flame), and then it all tapers out with some super chill tracks (like a random one from rogue wave, cotton jones, and exes).

I feel like I also need to give a shout out to the 13 reasons why soundtrack, where a lot of the songs for this month came from. so definitely check out that complete playlist if you’re looking for more stuff to listen to…

enjoy, and happy beltane!

woah you guys. I almost missed this month’s playlist entirely! because I’ve been teaching and running around so much lately, it’s been tough for me to really put together a solid playlist. I’m just not sitting in my studio or at my computer long enough to really curate something together. soooo…there’s really only one word to describe this month’s line up: random.

now mind you, there’s a few solid tracks in this playlist – like ‘amsterdam’, ‘cat thruster’, and ‘drink to moving on’. but some of these songs were just random stuff that came into my discover weekly playlist, or something I heard at a bar (like ‘six underground’ from sneaker pimps…I nearly fell over when I heard it, it had been ages!).

tune in below on spotify, or dig back into my archive of monthly playlists for more music…

I don’t know what it was about this month, but I seemed to have experienced a bit of a music dry spell. typically, I am able to fill up a playlist rapid speed with new and old finds. but for some reason, I just struggled to get this one to the finish line. maybe it was my schedule, maybe I just wasn’t really in any sort of mood. who knows!

I do find however, when I’m in a funk like this – that I default to sort of chill-hop instrumental stuff (and that genre consumes a lot of this playlist). and honestly, it’s the best kind of tunes if you’re in any sort of ‘creative zone’. ps: definitely listen to this playlist in order (and not on shuffle), it mellows out towards the end…
