"Cacti" art journal workshop with artist Roxanne Coble (aka BY BUN)

Mini Art Journal Workshop with artist Roxanne Coble (aka BY BUN)

happy monday! I just wanted to let you know that if you’re in so cal, I’ll be teaching two in-person workshops this weekend in the south bay. these classes are being held at a private residence located in el segundo this saturday & sunday. here’s a look at the line up:

“CACTI” *new!*
saturday, march 25th – 10am-4pm
Art journaling meets illustration in this mixed media workshop “Cacti”. This class takes you through the process of creating a two-page art journal spread that uses succulents and cacti as a visual focal point. Through guided step-by-step instruction, you will build up a mixed media foundation layer using ephemera and acrylic paint. With a foundation layer complete, the class then further explores: planning a composition, the use of a split-complimentary color palette, observational drawing, and unique illustration techniques using both acrylic paint, ink, and/or watercolor.

“MINI ART JOURNALS”
sunday, march 26th – 10am-3pm
This art journaling class takes you through the process of creating a miniature, two-inch, mixed media art journal. Through step-by-step instruction, we will begin by binding and constructing our mini journals by hand. Once our mini journals are assembled, the class will then take you through a variety of individual techniques, prompts, and illustrations to apply within each 2-page spread! At the completion of the class you’ll have a fully altered mini journal featuring eight different miniature art spreads…

space is limited, but there’s still a few open seats! I would love for you to join me. shoot me an email to scope out the supply list and get more info: madebybun@gmail.com

xo

+ not local or cannot attend in person? join me online! I’ve got two online classes that you can join at any time and do at your own pace: ‘Creatures‘ & ‘Lyrical‘. and yes, the rumors are true…I have a new one in the works 😉 stay tuned!

“FANTASTICAL FAUNA” // ART JOURNALING WORKSHOP
Saturday, August 6th, 10am-4pm (with one-hour lunch break)

This art journal class takes you through the process of creating a two-page journal spread that includes an illustrated animal. What makes these animals unique however, is that they are in a state of transparency: complete with bones, organs, and unique illustrative details. love art happy life e-course!

when marieke blokland reached out asking if I would teach as part of the upcoming ‘love art happy life’ e-course, I was so hyped to say YES. allow me to share with you just why I was so thrilled about this class…

did you know I have two degrees in art history? yup, I sure do! well, it just so happens that the foundation of this class is ART HISTORY! each guest artist in the course is focusing on a different master in art history. this master will act as the inspiration for their individual class – both in the material they present, as well as the actual journal page you’ll be creating!

when I got the list of masters to choose from, it took me all of about three seconds to select EGON SCHIELE. a little bit of a secret: scheile is a HUGE influence in my work. my illustrated faces, contoured figures, all that creepy awesome…is influenced directly from schiele.

so join me and these other fantastic teachers won’t you? (Ivy and Iris I’m looking right at you ladies!). I’ve cooked up something really rad for students joining the course. class kicks off Jan 1st 2016, but you can snag your seat now (and at a super sweet early bird rate might I add…).

see you all in class! xo
