Life Book book by Tamara Laporte, featuring artist Roxanne Coble (aka BY BUN)

“Celebrate and honour your creative potential with Create Your Life Book!”
Based on much-loved mixed-media artist Tamara Laporte’s popular, multi-year series of online classes, Create Your Life Book offers mixed-media drawing and painting projects that can raise your awareness of and help you work through personal challenges and other obstacles to creating art and achieving self-fulfilment.

Each themed chapter presents 4 or 5 two-part projects: The first part of each project explores a common issue that hampers creativity and/or positive self-worth, and includes a worksheet or list of questions to be answered; the second part is a step-by-step mixed-media art project that provides a way for artists at all skill levels to contemplate and work through that issue. Also included are projects contributed by some of Tamara’s Life Book guest teachers–Roxanne Coble, Andrea Gomoll, Alena Hennessy, Mystele Kirkeeng, Ivy Newport, and Effy Wild–who are noted mixed-media artists in their own right. Along the way, Tamara shares inspirational photos and uplifting and encouraging affirmations. The final chapter presents a simple binding method for creating a keepsake book of your Life Book projects.

it’s officially published in January 2018, although many sites are now showing the publishing date as this month! I ordered a copy for myself on Amazon, and already got it! here’s where you can order it:

  22. Another great giveaway… I would love to win a copy of Tams LifeBook to give to my girlfriend and soul sister Yolanda whom I met at Tams Art Heart and Healing workshop many years ago… My Soul Sister lives in Puerto Rico, she has been without power and running water for over 2 months now since the hurricane ripped through the island. Her uncle and sister in law have died and are in their back yard waiting for the Corner to come get them to be cremated; Yolanda’s spirits are at an all time low which doesn’t help her failing immune systems.., she is in need of oxygen and has had to have a generator just to keep her alive…. my heart aches for her and her family and what they’re all going through on a daily basis. No one can truly understand the magnitude of how devastated everyone who lives on the island truly is. I’ve been sending care packages of books just to keep her a little busy and entertained through all the heart ache… I know this book would give her some hope, love, and inspiration to keep going…❤️

PS. On my iPad Pro, your blog’s Comment section is all whacked out…maybe on something fishy or maybe it feels dislexic. The name/email/website ar aligned with the comment box and the three bars associated with name/email/website ar unlabeled and lonely from their lack of designations. It’s like we’ve fallen down the rabbit hole ;p

  30. I love life Book! I have been doing it for the past few years but I can’t for 2018 due to bills! So I could relive it with the book. That would be amazing

Also, I really want to explore mixed media and art journaling as I’m trying to break out of a few personal things that have held back my creativity these past few years.

  35. I’m so excited about this book. I love this crowd of mixed media artists and the work you do together. As I librarian, I can’t wait to to hold that work in book form. To put it on my shelf with the other books that provide me with joy and inspiration.

  36. Would love to have a copy under the xmas tree. Love lifebook since the beginning and it is wonderful that Tam gather all the faboulous painters around her. Thanks to her great work I find You too.
    hug and love from Budapest

  37. Okay, not to be one of those people who “always have a story” but I think this book would be good for me. I’ve had to deal with depression for a good decade now, starting in my early teenhood (not a word 😂). I used to be really into art, but you know the whole thing with Asian parents telling you ‘you’re worth nothing and if you go into art you’ll be nothing but a failure’… (no? Not just me right? Lol!) So I stopped and tried going into something half-assed, because for some reason I couldn’t just stop making art. Well I had a huge falling out within the past few years and felt terribly miserable, and went through a phase of trying to self love once more.

Until one day… I happened across an “artsnacks” video. Someone doing the artsnacks challenge (which I’ve never heard of). I was kinda interested in this video, so I went to looking into this subscription thing. Your unboxing videos got me HOOKED. In a fury I bought a box, signed up, and then Black Friday stuff so I bought another box with supplies from a box not available. Though it did put a dent in my savings… not to worry I have a… what I call “epiphany savings”. Lol, its when I come to a sudden conclusion in my life that requires me to buy a lot of stuff really fast… and that’s what those savings are for lol.

In anycase! Fast forward a couple weeks, and now I’m stuck again. I started to draw and paint again, but now I’m stuck. Where do I go with this? How do I be creative? Or am I just copying other people’s ideas? So today, actually… I started just binge watching your videos on YouTube with some hope I can find… something. I’m not sure what it is yet… but I’m looking.

Well, coincidentally I happened upon your website in the midst of binge watching and found this blog, and the book looks awesome! Will definitely look more into it! Welp… I think it’s time to sleep 😅… ciao!

  38. I would love to win a copy of Tam’s book. I have been participating in Life Book for a few years now and would love to have the book to supplement the course.

  39. I would love to win a copy of Tam’s new book! I LOVE Tam! And I love learning from all the different awesome teachers she brings on as well. This book will help me to continue to learn and develop my own style.

  40. Just got into art again. Your artsnacks videos got me interested in art again. I got a subscription box and can’t stop doodling. I follow all your blogs and vlogs, having this book would really motivate me even more to continue on my art making journey.

  41. Life Book 2013 was my first ever venture into Art Journaling, and man, WHAT an introduction to the world of Art Journaling it was!!
I have since gotten to learn from so many wonderful artists.
When Tam came to Australia last year, I just knew that I had to do her weekend workshop at Byron Bay so that I could meet her and thank her in person. ^_^
I would love to own her book, so thank you for the opportunity to win it.

  42. I have managed to do Life Book twice now. It was my Christmas present from my hubby both times and so so special. It has helped me in many ways. To have that experience and inspiration in book form would be wonderful. 💜

  50. Hi Rox! I hope to win this book because a book is a wonderful way to learn and be inspired… and maybe also because 2017 has been a bit rough.

  51. Awesome! I would love to win this book ! I’m hoping it will inspire me to start art journaling again especially since I plan to retire this year and concentrate on my art.

  52. This book would be an awesome inspiration for the art students I teach at high school! 🙂 We are always loving your project work and ideas Roxanne!

  53. Since becoming a mom my creative life has taken a back seat (which I don’t regret one bit) it just takes a lot more time to get to do, so a book like this would at least inspire me when I can’t get to the table. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy.

  54. I would love to have this book. Who wouldn’t?!?! I have fallen away from Art Journaling and believe that this book is just what the doctor ordered to launch me back in and help me get into a beautiful groove. The course appears wonderful, too, of course, but is too much for me at this time.
